Why Prentix Exists
Employers are the bottleneck in work-based learning. Students face rising experience requirements but limited access to opportunities. Schools can't build enough employer partnerships to meet demand. And small businesses need early talent but are too stretched to design formal programs—even when they're willing to teach and mentor.
Instead of competing for the same limited employer slots, Prentix expands supply by teaching students to recruit businesses themselves—building durable skills they'll use throughout their careers.
Not-So-Fun Facts
-
56% of college students seeking internships can’t find one.
-
Over one-third of “entry-level” jobs require 3+ years of experience.
-
The U.S. offers only ~240,000 new registered apprenticeships each year — far below demand.
-
These numbers point to the same reality: opportunity is scarce when young people are expected to wait for it.

Our Belief
We believe young people can be their own solution.
Instead of waiting for institutions to build partnerships or employers to curate opportunities, learners can initiate their own job shadowing, internships, apprenticeships, and hands-on experiences — with the right skills and support.
Some young people naturally gain these skills from family members, coaches, or mentors. Most don’t. Prentix teaches them explicitly: how to articulate their strengths, activate their networks, and speak confidently with local businesses. When they do, doors open — and the durable skills they build carry them through every stage of their careers.
Our Vision
Meaningful work should be accessible, not exclusive.
Local businesses should be part of the learning ecosystem.
Early career success should come from teachable skills — not luck or connections.
Prentix exists to make these connections simple, human, and scalable.
